This page is based on the official scheme for the Assistant Engineer Combined Competitive Examination, 2024 (Advertisement No. 10/2024-25).
The written competitive examination has two successive stages:
Preliminary Examination
Main Examination
Candidates who meet the prescribed qualifying conditions in the Main Examination are considered for the Personality and Viva-Voce Examination.

RPSC AEn Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination consists of two objective-type papers carrying a total of 400 marks. It is a screening examination; its marks are not included in the final merit list.
Candidates are shortlisted for the Main Examination up to approximately 15 times the total vacancies. Candidates securing the same percentage of marks at the prescribed lower cut-off may also be admitted to the Main Examination.

RPSC AEn Main Examination
The Main Examination is of conventional / descriptive type. Candidates must appear in both compulsory papers and the two papers of one selected engineering discipline.

Personality and Viva-Voce Examination
Candidates must obtain the qualifying marks fixed by RPSC for the Main Examination. However, no candidate who fails to secure:
35% marks in each compulsory paper, and
40% marks in aggregate

Important Instructions
• The standard of all papers is at the Bachelor’s Degree level, except Hindi, which is at the Senior Secondary level.
• Unless specifically required otherwise, papers may be answered in Hindi or English. A candidate cannot answer the same paper partly in Hindi and partly in English unless permitted.
• Appearance in all compulsory and selected engineering papers is mandatory.
• RPSC will not recommend a candidate who fails to secure at least 50% marks in aggregate. The scheme provides the applicable reserved-vacancy exception for women and BC, MBC, EWS, SC and ST candidates who qualify for interview.
